Eureka!

If anyone was wondering where all that fantastic weather has gone, then the answer is obvious - the school holidays have begun.

Yesterday, Chris took a day off work and we tried out Eureka! a children's museum near Halifax. Although we had to queue to get in and queue for ages for some lunch, it was a really successful outing and we spent five hours in there without a single grumble from any of the troops. It says it is a hands-on, must touch experience and it certainly is. Max's favourite was sitting in the cab of a lorry practising his driving and Madeleine showed an interest in driving too. Dominic was captivated by the world of work area where children can run their own post office, house, bank, M&S food hall and garage. He delivered post to all these areas and there were also lots of dressing up clothes all over the place - hence the birds and horse pictures above. A bevy of staff ran about the building picking stuff up and putting it back where it belonged so the next lot of budding posties or shoppers could get on with their work. Very impressive.

Not surprisingly it was a very busy museum (verging on the hideous at points) but near the end of the day it emptied quite a bit and we had a lovely last hour in the garage, driving cars, filling up with petrol and so on. Fab for five, three and one year olds and quite bearable for thirty-somethings too. Posted by Picasa
