Leaf Blowers review.....In Cold Blood

Last night the Leaf Blowers met in Gorton and enjoyed an extended membership with Sarah joining in the chat. The book details Truman Capote's extensive investigation into a seemingly motiveless murder in a rural town in the states in the 1950's. I think we all agreed that it is very well written and highly evocative the time and the place.

As a group, we were split by who had and who had not yet seen the film Capote which got a major thumbs up from those who had seen it. I'm certainly looking forward to watching it now.

On the whole, I think In Cold Blood was an interesting, rather than a great, read. The blurring of the lines between truth and fiction is worth thinking about and the question of whether something that is essentially fact-based can really be as satisfying dramatically as something that has been imagined and constructed deliberately also provoked some comment.

Next pick is The Sea by John Banville - my choice, so going on previous form, probably boring, pretentious waffle. Oh dear. I do hope not. Posted by Picasa
