On Saturday we went into Manchester on the train with Alan, Scott and the children. The grown-ups lunched at the Chinese bakery and Alan and Scott were reminded of Hong Kong by the shop windows in Chinatown. Then they took us all on the Manchester Wheel so we could get a better view of the clouds over the city and of Urbis, a gallery/museum thing which people seem to like the outside of a lot more than they like what is inside - but I've never been in it, so what do I know.

I've been in it. Don't go.
There is, however, a very nice (expensive), but fantastic restaurant in the Urbis called Le Mont. It is a gastronomic delight and as long as money is no object, you can start with a rather lovely glass of champagne and end with a very nice desert wine. The winelist is also fantastic. Recommended for a special night out.
