The LINUX project is just about complete. I had to buy an additional network card and I just couldn't get it too work with the XP machine and get a decent connection. This could be down to me buying a card for under £10 and you get what you pay for. My only choice was to use it in the LINUX laptop. This whole excercise took longer than installing Ubuntu in the first place. Anyway despite staying up until 3am playing Singstar with Kate, Mandy and Jon, I finally cracked it this morning. I have now ceremoniously handed it over to the children who are currently exploring YouTube with it.
Thanks have to go to

The geek evidence is clear.
- I stayed up all night playing computer games
- I only had three hours sleep
- I got up this morning at 7am with my first objective being to install a network card on LINUX
- My next project is to put LINUX on another laptop. I am asking myself should I stick to the same flavour Ubuntu or go for Fedora Core 6.
- I have learnt new commands like iwconfig, iwpriv, rmmod...
- I know what ndiswrapper is and think it is great
- I am hyperlinking everything

Your geek credentials are shiny and up to date! Congratuations brother. I am downloading 7.04 as I write. High hopes of running most of my lab on it next year.
Bloody hell! I only feel well enough to visit blog pages now. Yesterday was spent catching up with Desperate Houswives and little else (I did have 5 hours to watch...). Well done for your early rising and what did you do to fix the network card? Was it the bitrate/some other setting?
I bow to your geekness. I am thinking of joining you in geek land as my stuff arrived from UK complete with an old Toshiba notebook that I'm not entirely sure what to do with. Having said that I'm pretty sure I'll have to rely on someone else's geekability.
