I think we are too old for stadium gigs. We did stand up, but so far back from the crush that it felt a bit like standing in the middle of a human contraflow. Why weren't they all listening to the music? Did they all need the toilet? I've always had little understanding of people who pay to go to football and then miss the last five minutes, regardless of the drama. But it was just like that - people were leaving in droves before the encore even started.
And it's not that the music wasn't good. The Arctic Monkeys may have a bit to learn about building atmosphere, but the music was great and they probably played every track they have written.
The crowd was seriously weird - at least from my aged perspective. And the venue (Lancashire County Cricket Ground) was dire. I don't mind queuing for the toilet for half an hour, but the bloke behind me was so pushed into me in the beer queue that I am having to redefine my idea of the invasion of personal space, the food was crap and the litter was indescribable.
I think it's back to a comfy seat in the MEN arena for me.
