On the 23rd we packed the car and hit the road to Edinburgh. Amazing how none of our three little bright sparks thought to ask what was in the very large cardboard box that filled up nearly half the boot.
On Christmas Eve Mum and I took the boys to Princes Street Gardens where they enjoyed a bungy experience. Pictures may appear on the other blog when I can get them off Chris' phone. The boys both had a go but I think they found it a little more daunting in reality than it had seemed while we were standing in the queue. Later on Mum, Maddie and I also visited Ishbel's new house where we admired her immense garden, her dressing room and her shoe collection - as well as Hiromi's bump.
Christmas Day was spent at Mum and Dad's with Alan and Scott helping improve the adult to child ratio. I'm pretty sure that the sprogs were all happy with their presents and satisfied that Santa and his reindeer had made short work of the milk, biscuits and carrots they left out for him. Dominic's favourite present was his spy laser beams, Max's his telescope from Alan and Scott and Maddie says her favourite was "pink".
On Boxing Day we drove down to Dunbar and spent the day with Chris' parents and Mark and his girlfriend Karerra. More presents, more food, more to drink - the usual Christmas excess but all at a relaxed pace. Before bedtime, Nana styled Max and Dominic's hair causing much hilarity. Max's spiky style is feature above.
It was Goose Day (the 27th)back in Edinburgh with Mum, Dad, Alan, Scott and Rory and Jane however, which provided one of my favourite moments. Madeleine spent most of Christmas mooching about, making a mess and wandering through rooms and having little chats with whoever she found. On one such wander she came into the kitchen where mum and I were preparing the goose for roasting.
"What's that," she said. "A triceratops?"
