Music in the Hills

Well it is a while since either Kate or I blogged. For most of you my latest contribution is going to irrelevant or frankly boring as there will be no pictures of the children. While we have been over here I have become addicted to 102.1 The Edge, a local Toronto radio station. The breakfast show with Dean Blundell is something of an acquired taste. There are a number of extracts on YouTube and I will let you draw your own conclusions. Anyway The Edge features a lot of Canadian music. Below are links to a selection of my favourites. I wanted to share these with Mr Hill and say thanks for the DVD he gave me while we were over in the UK. The videos are YouTube links are probably won't work given the recent dispute with the record companies.

Billy TalentTurn Your Back is a great track they released for charity with Anti-Flag

Econoline CrushYou Don't Know What It's Like has a very cool video though I can't work out whether they are still together

Dallas Green and City of Colour – Dallas Green is famous for his tattoos which can be seen on the video for The Girl

Die Mannequin – I always seem to like bands with screechy female lead singers. This track is Do it or Die

The Tragically Hip – It think this lot have been around for a number of years. Anyway Love Is A First is playing a lot right now.

USS – It is amazing what Google throws up when to you search for Porno Star Trek

Matthew Good Band Load Me Up is a pretty old track and they aren't a band anymore!!

K-OSCrabbuckit is one of Kate's favourites

Our Lady Peace – Another great video for One Man Army

Finger Eleven – I Paralyzer for the first time yesterday

ArkellsOh, The Boss Is Coming makes me thing of the Automatic

We also get to hear music from the US that you wouldn't necessarily get in the UK. I got into Rise Against for a while but Re-Education got played to death. I recently discovered the Silversun Pickups with Panic Switch appearing on the The Edge playlist.

No doubt normal service and pics of the kids will resume shortly!

Oooh, good stuff. Of the ones that played, I liked most of them. Stand out tracks were Turn your back and do it or die.

If you find yourself with 5 minutes, you should surf through the YouTube comments against most of those. They're hilarious. I wish I could post an example on here, but it's a family blog...!
