Third grade Read-a-thon

Tonight's treat was an evening back at school. All of Max's grade returned to school at 6.45pm and were given a tee-shirt (designed by me!) and a backpack ready for a reading and camping extravaganza.

I was manning the Nature activity which was excellent fun and worked really well. The kids had to memorize a board with 9 pieces of nature (shells, pine cones etc) glued on. Then they had to sack race across to the other side of the room to collect the pieces they needed to replicate the board they'd seen on a blank one they were given. It went really well. Great mix of thinking skills and racing around. Not a lot of strategy to be seen, but some teams did do more than just rush and grab.

Tomorrow I may blog the tee-shirt. If I'm not too busy packing my bags!
