Coming back from Japan

I was in Japan briefly the other week. I flew out with Lufthansa which was remarkably effiecient but extremely dull and pretty uncomfortable. Anyway here are some pictures from my journey home which was complicated by needing to come home via central London. It all starts on a bus from Shin-Umeda to Kansai. I might not normally be a bus person but the coach to the aiport is quicker, more comfortable and considerably cheaper.

It also has the added advantage of view of the older parts of Osaka.

This picture is the business class lounge at Osaka airport. From the outside you imagine such lounges to be havens of tranquility and luxury. The reality is this rather pokey cupboard.
It does give me a chance to catch up on news from home but I find the lounge so desperate that I abandon it and join the masses in the main part of the concourse. The flight down to Hong Kong is great. Cathay had a long-haul jet on the route with great seats and service.

The first class BA lounge at HKG is much better. There is a choice of champagne and tubs of Hagen Daaz.
Finally I get on board. Normally I prefer to sit upstairs but notice it is really busy with no one sat in the club section downstairs. I ask to change and this is a picture of the seat I use while awake. What you can't see is the section of 12 seats I have to sleep off the champagne and port. I manage 8 hours of unconciousness on the 13 hour flight. At this point I forget that I am taking pictures of the journey but it finishes off something like this;
3 hours in the arrivals lounge - shower and full English
1 hours LHR to Stanhope Gate
2 hour meeting
1 hour SHG to LHR
5 hours trying to get a flight back to MAN
I am thrilled when I get home as Dominic throws himself to the ground because I am presentless!

Thanks for the travelogue. It brought back horrible memories. I'm so glad I'm over it. Photos were interesting, looks like you were travelling alone (empty bus, empty plane). Looking forward to the next interesting instalment
