End of plant life

Well, I guess the picture tells the story. Our leggy sunflower was doing really well but a little parental procrastination left it with a stake that was too short and and a pot that was too small. Reaching desperation point, depressed through cruel neglect, our sunflower took matters into its own hands and committed suicide by splitting itself in half.

Dominic, oh heartless one, was remarkably unbothered but, as we have also sown some outside, the sunflower story may yet have another twist to it. The excitement is almost too much.
