Staying near Carcassonne, we were able to take a couple of day trips over to Narbonne plage and enjoy a beautiful beach (at least on the day when there wasn't a force ten gale blowing along it) and lots of paddling, sandcastles etc. Here we see Maddie learning from her Dad how to play the Chrissy exaggeration game.

Grandpa took Maddie for her first paddle in the sea and it would be fair to say that she took to it big style.

That girl doesn't let much go past her these days. If the boys have it, she wants it. Here she is modelling Dominic's beach towel thingy.

And here she takes a break from munching on figs from the fantastic trees next to the pool to wander about, showing off her newly acquired walking skills. France 2006 was where Maddie really got to grips with this walking thing and had to be properly shod as soon as we got back so she could carry on walking in the rainy, miserable, windswept North West that buffetted us all as we got off the plane on Saturday.
