I want that man's credentials!

Dominic tackled the role of Mayor Shinn in The Music Man last Thursday and Friday evenings in a local theatre. He was great. It is difficult to believe that he is not yet nine and was one of the youngest performers on stage (although not the shortest by any means). He seemed to get a real buzz out of it. It was a great character role and one that required the actor to shout and stamp his feet quite a bit. The boy himself admitted that he didn't find it hard as he has been known to behave rather like that at home.

In one of those synchronsitic thingys where you hear a name and then hear it everywhere, one of the songs in the show is called the Well's Fargo Wagon. As a family we are hitching ourselves to the Well's Fargo Bank's mortgage wagon tomorrow when we close on the house in Kennett Square (mushroom capital of the U.S. of A, I'll have you know). It has been an experience buying this house with no credit history in the US and money in Canada and the UK. For quite a while we only had ten bucks in our US bank account which I suppose might worry a mortgage company in the post sub-prime whatsit, but it felt like they were after our blood and/or inside leg measurements for a while last week. Still. We survived. And the finishing post is in sight.
