I rather like Maddie's homework tonight. Apparently she will have attended first grade for 100 days next week and this is SIGNIFICANT. I don't know why. But it is. She has made a tee-shirt with 100 blobs of paint on it and now this sheet where she had to number the boxes from 1 to 100 and stick a small object in each box.
Once upon another life, when Chris and I had first moved in together in Heaton Moor and we had no money whatsoever, we used to go to jumble sales. I'll need to check but I think Sibyl came too. Anyway, at one of these I bought a jar of buttons. Probably some half-baked, book-born idea that a button box was the kind of thing a girl setting up home ought to have. Of course I've barely used them. I mean - who was I kidding (except myself!) However.... cometh the day, cometh the buttons. We had fun making this.

You should ask your husband about the "first 100 days" - it's big around our work-place, particularly with members of the leadership team (http://www.google.co.uk/search?ie=UTF-8&q=first+100+days). Not sure why it's relevant to school-kids though!
