Things I forgot about

I have missed a few things, I realise. The Leaf Blowers have not been swept away into a compost heap but have met twice since I last mentioned it. We read Just Like Tomorrow by Faiza Guene before Christmas and have since met to review Kim by Rudyard Kipling.

The first was a slim volume by a young french immigrant. It is a light, amusing and touching read. The second was a bit more challenging. Not everyone had (or will) finish it and certainly it is quite formal in its language, particularly the dialogue. There were several points where I found myself at the bottom of the page feeling quite uncertain about what had been happening and having to steel myself to read the page again. That said, I'm really glad I've read it. For the first time, I've had a sense of how wonderful India might be. In another life, I hope I'll be a lama and spend my time perfecting my ability to draw the Wheel.

However, while still in this incarnation, I forgot to record that when I was in Edinburgh, Mum and I went to see To Kill a Mockingbird at the King's Theatre and stayed for the after show chat too. Although I have always loathed Duncan thingy in Victoria Wood programmes, he was a very convincing Atticus and the second half was particularly absorbing. Best performance was by the girl making the false accusation of rape. As usual for me, I was very impressed by the set. The after talk thingy was amusing. A mixture of interesting insight, wonderful lovie-ness and wondering which was more obtuse, the actors' answers or the audience's lengthy questions. If you've never bothered to go to one of these, I'd recommend it.

I can't believe I missed so many posts. Glad to see though, that you are still reading (how could I ever doubt it). I'm reading Vanity Fair by William Thackery at the moment, it's very hard going.
