Another country #1

No, we are not at home and they do do at least some things differently here. We thought we'd record some of them but I can't keep racking my brains for book titles so they are all going to go under one heading with some kind of Canadian image for each one. Sound like a plan?

So here, in no particular order, are a few differences we have noted/experienced so far:

Milk in a bag - good on eliminating bad packaging and very amusing to small people.

The unpopularity of butter - marg is big here and the kids are eating 'I can't believe it's not butter' and laughing uproariously. We keep telling them you can have it at home but I don't think they are listening.

Recycling - ah! So that's how to do it. We have organic waste, recyclable waste, garden waste, metal collection, bulk collection and lastly (and least), garbage.

Vocab - obviously the boys are amused by trousers being called pants but Max has already introduced a bit of Manchester-lingo over here by talking about being "poorly".

We have rabbits in the garden. And I know, I know, you can have them in your garden in the UK, but I'll see your rabbits and I'll raise you our chipmunk!

Last one for now - Tim Horton's. They are everywhere, a kind of drive-through coffee shop with doughnuts, soup and sandwiches. The small ones are impressed by the doughnuts (I prefer the muffins myself).
