Our summer is about swimming. There is nothing else to report. The kids swim from 10 to 2ish everyday, with meets on a Wednesday evening and Saturday morning. Don't get me wrong, it is great fun and we are making some great friends. It is amazing to watch the kids change shape and colour. I have also found a new vocation... I am a timer. This involves being able to operate a stopwatch, starting when the light flashes and stopping when any part of the contestant's body hits the wall. This rule is something that Maddie took very literally when she clattered the end of the pool with her head. I have suggested that she now swims in a helmet. Back to timing, you have a fellow timer and in double quick time you have to average your two times. If the times are close it is easy. This whole thing gives you a very privileged spectating position, especially if you get a hot lane (I am even into the jargon).
Our Wednesday meet saw terrific performances from all Braithwaites. Some highlights...
...the Braithwaite boys being the engine room of the winning freestyle relay
...Maddie getting her first third place
...Dom nailing the butterfly
...and Max winning everything that he entered
Our Saturday meet was a little more challenging as we went up against the best team in the league. We got hammered but Dom was amazing in the 50 free.
Life at the pool continues...
