The kids and I spent the first week of the summer holidays in Northumberland with Mum. They called it going to the other side of the country in a way that made it seem as though they thought they had travelled to the other end of the earth.
We had an excellent time. Here are a couple of photographs of our first outing to Warkworth Castle. It is an English Heritage site and largely a ruin with lots of places to climb and not too much commercialism.
